Summary of Changes in Trash Service
The Town identified several elements of the current trash collection system that were negatively affecting resident’s quality of life, particularly if you did not live in a HOA that managed that function. Ordinance 2016-12, passed on October 28, 2016, implements a number of reforms that are minimally intrusive on residents.
There are currently 5 providers of trash hauling services. All 5 remain permitted to collect trash in PV; therefore, there is no disruption to your service provider. In order to reduce the number of days in which trash cans sit on the curb and garbage trucks drive residential streets to collect them, the Ordinance divides the Town in half and limits collections to two days per week. If you live north of Lincoln or you live east of Tatum, your trash collection days will be Monday and/or Thursday. If you live south of Lincoln or west of Tatum, your collection days will be Tuesday and/or Friday. Recycling will occur on one of those two days. The Ordinance now allows trash haulers to offer once-a-week service, but it is the residents choose if they want trash picked up once or twice a week.
In order to reduce noise and emission of trash trucks, all trucks must be equipped with “operation-at-idle” and smart back-up alarm technology. Operation-at-idle enables the truck to lift the bin into the truck’s container without having to ramp up the idle, and therefore the noise, to do so. The smart back up alarms measures the ambient noise and adjusts the back-up alarm to reduce noise. The ordinance also requires trucks with diesel engines be no older than 7 years. The federal government required much cleaner burning diesel engines manufactured in 2010 or later. The new ordinance ensures that PV neighborhoods realize those lower emissions.
This ordinance takes effect on February 1, 2017 with the engine requirement going into effect July 1, 2017.
Solid Waste & Recycling Collection
The Town does not provide solid waste and recycling collection, rather it is provided by privately owned companies. Residents can subscribe to any one of the following licensed companies.

Collection containers may be placed at the curb the night before collection day, and must be removed from the street and stored in a screened area by the end of the collection day.
Trash Collection Days
Below is a map showing when trash and recycling is collected in Paradise Valley. If you live east of Tatum Boulevard and North of Lincoln Drive (green area) your trash and recycling is collected on Mondays and Thursdays. If you live west of Tatum Boulevard and south of Lincoln Drive (orange area) your trash and recycling is collected on Tuesday and Friday. Residents may choose to have their trash collected once per week. The trash collection companies are allowed to collect trash twice-per-week, but it is limited to the two authorized days.
The companies may only operate between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
