On November 17, 2018, the Paradise Valley Police Department, Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology (AzStRUT) and Paradise Valley Wealth Management hosted a Shred-A-Thon. This event allowed residents of the Town to bring used electronics and confidential documents for shredding. While the event was free, a donation was requested. Donations received allowed the Police Department to sponsor underprivileged children at Sirens and Sleigh Bells. Nearly $1900 was donated. Paradise Valley residents brought 367 boxes of confidential documents in need of shredding and nearly 3400 pounds of used electronics to be recycled. Three document safes were also raffled to participants, just for showing up.
AzStRUT will shred hard drives and memory in computers and rebuild or salvage any usable parts to recycle. This year, Paradise Valley residents dropped off 19 desktop computers, 21 laptop computers, 14 LCD monitors, eleven mobile devices, eight flat screen televisions, and one iMac. The total weight of the electronics weighed 3,347 pounds.
Join us in the Spring of 2019 for another opportunity to shred these items!
