You may have recently seen news stories regarding an ICE transition facility in the City of Scottsdale. The Town of Paradise Valley was not consulted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) regarding the location of this facility, and, unfortunately, we have no jurisdiction to regulate it. ICE detention facilities are under the exclusive authority of the federal government. Any comments or concerns should be directed to your federal representatives in the U.S. Congress.
The Paradise Valley Police Department is monitoring the situation. There was a peaceful protest outside the facility this last week; we expect any further protests to be peaceful, as well. We are in close contact with neighboring communities so we can stay on top of any developments. The Town remains vigilant on all matters related to public safety in and around Paradise Valley and should Paradise Valley citizens experience specific safety concerns in their neighborhoods, they should contact the Paradise Valley Police Department at 480-948-7410, or 911 in the case of any emergency.
