Each year, the PV Arts Board selects a Town artist to hang a show at Town Hall. We are pleased to announce that the artist-in-residence for October 2021 to September 2022 is Bobby Lee Krajnik! The show is available to view during regular business hours at the Town Hall through September 2022. Town Hall is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm (closed noon to 1:00 pm for lunch).
Oil painter Bobby Lee Krajnik uses vibrant colors and light vs. dark values to portray Southwest Landscapes. Her tranquil portrayals invite the viewer to come closer for a more intimate view revealing subtleties in color and value, representing the changing light on the surface of the subject. Many of her newer paintings feature historic or old religious structures in the Southwest. Her inspiration comes from the beauty, different cultures and difficult history of the Southwest and its impact on the people who lived here. The sometimes violent history had a profound influence on the communities and their religion, art, architecture and way of life.
"When I first came to Arizona twenty five years ago, I fell in love with the architecture of the old Arizona buildings, Hispanic folk art with its focus on religious icons, native American silver and turquoise jewelry and the beauty of the desert with it's unique cacti. Now after being an artist for over twenty-five years and painting these sanctuaries of the southwest, I have a much deeper appreciation of regional art, architecture, local cultures and history of this unique region."
Bobby also enjoys travelling, art, architecture, good food and different cultural experiences. For a time, she lived and worked in the Spanish colonial city of San Miguel de Allende, in central Mexico. There she kept a studio, painted, studied Spanish and immersed herself in the local culture of the beautiful city.
Her work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the Southwestern United States and Mexico. She has also exhibited in multiple group museum shows in Wyoming, Colorado, Texas and Arizona.
Next time you are at Town Hall to mail a package or take care of some other business, be sure to make a little extra time to enjoy this beautiful artwork.
